These are my personal pages, somewhat autobiographical, something of a soap-box where I can talk about things, something of a blog. Here I discuss a variety of issues, often controversial or unpleasant ones such as homelessness. I hope to provide interesting and thought-provoking material. Some of it may seem depressing, but hiding from some unpleasantness doesn't make it go away. I believe an awareness of problems is a step towards solving them - and ultimately, that solving problems is better than hiding them from view.
I have some pages devoted to more uplifting topics such as poetry. One of my favorite poets is Rabindranath Tagore. One of my favorite poems is the Rubaiyat, by Omar Khayyam. There are many other favorites that I'll add as time permits.
There is a section on Russian music, with the lyrics to some favorite songs. Those lyrics are in Russian. I've also added some MP3's for a few of these songs - the ones not restricted by copyright.
I have a few pages of rants, which are more or less reasonable opinions that others might share. Then there are my crank pages, in which my opinions are most likely wrong, but certainly well off the beaten track.
There are some pages about Linux, one of my many passions. I intend for these pages to contain a wide variety of material, from basic information to more technical material. I want a complete novice to be able to use these pages to help him get started; but I also would like to offer more experienced users something of value.
There is a blog about technical topics I find fascinating. Perhaps I should get out more. The blog is where I post reviews of Linux programs and distributions, as I encounter them. It contains opinions and timely comments. The Linux pages here contain information such as man pages and other documentation, information that is unlikely to change much.
It seems to me that every Website is "under construction", so perhaps mentioning it would be unnecessary. At least I'm not using one of those animated .GIF's showing a construction worker with a shovel. However, I want to say that I am likely to make frequent changes, which might sometimes move or delete something you wanted to keep. I'll try to limit my changes to additions, but in some cases it is necessary to delete. One example is the "Jargon File" by Eric S. Raymond, a fine and entertaining glossary of computer-related words along with interesting anecdotes, historical information, and comments. I had mirrored that file here, but there were too many broken links. Therefore, I deleted it from here, and refer you to his own Website.
